Meet Spiderette

Spiderette on j5wan.com uses one 52-card deck with all four suits. Four complete same-suit King-to-Ace runs win the game. The smaller deck does not remove the need to manage suit changes. The tableau contains seven columns rather than ten.

Seven growing columns

A few details help explain this feature. Only the bottom card of each initial column is face up. The opening tableau contains 28 cards altogether. The first opening column contains one card and each following column contains one more. The seventh opening column contains seven cards.

Twenty-four stock cards

Keep these points in mind. Spiderette begins with 24 cards in the stock. The final stock deal contains three cards for the first three columns. The stock is used in deals of seven, seven, seven and three cards. A full stock deal adds one card to each of the seven columns.

Build down by rank

A single exposed card can land on another exposed card exactly one rank higher. A destination card may belong to a different suit. Any exposed card may enter an empty column. A King can enter only an empty column because no rank is higher.

Move a sequence

A mixed-suit descending sequence cannot move as one group. A movable group must be face up and descend in one suit. The selected group's leading card determines which destination rank is legal. Selecting a shorter matching segment can reveal an available group move.

Open the hidden layout

Keep these points in mind. Undo restores a hidden card's earlier state when the revealing action is reversed. No separate click is needed to reveal a newly uncovered card. Moving all exposed cards off a hidden card turns that hidden card face up. An exposed hidden card can create another possible destination.

Prepare to use the stock

The following details apply here. Any valid movable group can fill an empty column. This Spiderette version requires every column to contain a card before a stock deal. An empty column prevents dealing even when only the final three stock cards remain. A stock deal may interrupt a sequence you were assembling.

Four complete runs

A few details help explain this feature. A complete face-up run is removed automatically from the bottom of a column. Four collected runs account for every card in the deck. A qualifying run contains thirteen cards of one suit from King down to Ace. One run is needed for spades, hearts, clubs and diamonds.

A few details help explain this feature. Replay starts the same Spiderette shuffle again. Hint suggests a legal move without checking every possible future continuation. A random Spiderette shuffle is not advertised as guaranteed winnable. Undo reverses a successful move or stock deal while recent history is available.
